Carica Papava L. Papaw. From Gonda, United Provinces, India. Presented by Rev. N. L. Rocky. Received June 28, 1909. "Papita or papaya seed grown in latitute 27 T north, longitude 81 51' east. Fruit was about 4 pounds each; tree 16 months old. This seed came from fruit grown in Gonda, the seed of which I obtained originally in Bangalore. I have had trees live and bear for 6 years and continue to freely grow. I see no reason why this luscious fruit should not grow and thrive all along the Gulf and in the islands." (Rocky.) 25694.
